Home Euthanasia

Having a beloved pet euthanized at home can be a very personal and respectful thing that can be done for your furry friend. At home, there is a unique sense of intimacy and final privacy that can’t be experienced quite the same anywhere else.

Home euthanasia lovingly avoids the added trauma that most animals (and their owners) experience in making a final, challenging trip in a car (perhaps with your pet in a carrier), at this very special and upsetting time or making the return trip with the body if you’re burying your pet at home.

As the Association for Pet Loss and Bereavement (APLB) says on its web site:  “Home means so much to a pet. There is no better place to spend its final moments with its loving owner. There’s an indescribable sense of finality and breaking of the physical bond during euthanasia and we never want to later think we could have done more.

“Although the service can also be perfectly performed in a vet’s practice...Home provides a unique setting of final sharing and intimacy, in the place the pet loves most. The term euthanasia actually means ‘good death’ and having this done at home adds something special towards achieving that.”
